Welcome to the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Information and Communication Access

Our aim is to improve outcomes of individuals with disabilities in all domains of life, especially in employment, community living and participation, and/or health and function. The focus is on two information and communication technologies: the Cloud and Mobile Technologies.

Our development efforts on the cloud-based technology are mainly to harness the cloud’s capability to make the Web and mobile technologies more accessible (via D1: Cloud Accessibility: Accessible Anywhere Anytime and D2: Adaptive Accessible mHealth projects), and more secure (via D3: Privacy and Security for Information Communication Technologies project) for individuals with disabilities.

The Center’s research projects focus on harnessing the power of mobile and telehealth technologies to empower individuals with disabilities to better manage their own health (via R1: Research on mHealth Telewellness for Cerebral Palsy and Spinal Cord Injury); to provide access to vocational training (via R2: Research on Mobile Pre-Vocational Coaching) and specialized service to individuals with disabilities living in rural areas (via R3: Research on Parent Education Teletherapy on Speech and Language for Rural Population); as well as to measure the accessibility of the web technology in general (via R4: Longitudinal Accessibility Study of Web 2.0).
